Nothing but flowers

It appears to me that I do the same thing over and over again, that I am doing something which does not seem to make too much difference to my life and to life in general. They say that life is precious and that it is short. I think it is long enough when nothing seems to be happening. I have learned that life does not really conform to our ideas of how it must be. There are roadblocks everywhere and we have to go around them or go over them. Life does not make it easy for all of us. Even those who seem to have it easy are not really having it easy at all. Remember Richard Corey? He had a different set of problems which eventually led him to blow his brains out. The beautiful people have other types of problems than people like me.

There are some basic things that run through every life though, I think. And that is the pursuit of happiness. Everyone wants to be happy and this is pursued by everyone. With so many people chasing after happiness, it is a wonder why so many are miserable. A person may be happy one moment and be totally miserable the next. What givees? Why does it happen this way? The Chinese praise moderation, Buddhists talk of the middle way. There must be something to these ideas but, looking at the world, this is hardly the way the world behaves. There are catastrophes that happen without our say-so.
